Senior Systems Engineer - Space Communications Research Group

i2CAT is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our SpaceComms Research area in order to work on exciting R&D projects of the space sector. 

i2CAT is leading the implementation of the Catalan NewSpace Strategy acting as a technical office for the Generalitat. For that purpose we are looking for a member that supports the Innovation Director of the Space Communications Area to conduct the strategy and lead certain related tasks.

Additionally, the candidate will also be involved in the different innovation activities with both the private and public sector to identify challenges and opportunities where NewSpace technology could be used. This responsibility will complement the research conducted in the Space Communications group. This group is centered on contributing with new technology related to Internet of Things (IoT) over satellite systems, Satellite networks challenges, and Inter-Satellite Link interactions. 

As a summary, the tasks associated to this job are the following ones:

1. Oversee the implementation of innovation and research projects and coordinate the different stakeholders as a systems engineer.
2. Support the implementation and management of the Catalan NewSpace Strategy
3. Identify challenges and opportunities in both the private and public sectors to apply NewSpace technologies related to the research conducted in the group.
4. Support the business development department in the generation of analysis and  proposals.

Where will you do it?

At i2CAT we already have an established ‘work-from-home’ policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We expect that you attend the office two days per week: one to stay connected with your team and another one to engage with other colleagues

If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well-connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.
