Junior researcher for 5G MWI solutions

The MWI team has developed a RAN controller and a RIC manager platform that are able to:

• Manage lifecycle of wireless network services (custom SSID or PLMNID) for Wi-Fi, LTE and 5GNR devices
• Control the amount of wireless resources allocated to each wireless service (e.g. allocating PRBs or airtime)
• Manage ORAN near real-time RICs and their xApps
• Integrate with open source ecosystems such as Open Air Interface

The MWI RAN controller and RIC manager platforms will continue to be developed in upcoming SNS projects to be part of an ORAN compliant Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) component. The envisioned SNS projects include NANCY and BeGREEN.

The selected candidate will be part of the MWI team developing the RAN controller and RIC manager platform solutions. The work will include:

• Developing solutions and algorithms proposed by the MWI team on the RAN controller and RIC manager platforms
• Developing SDN device agents running on embedded Linux platforms
• Supporting demonstrations involving the RAN controller and RIC manager
• Proposing new architectures, protocols or algorithms that can address the problems addressed by the team
• Interacting with the other team R&D engineers that develop the RAN Controller  and RIC manager platforms

Where will you do it?

At i2CAT we already have an established telework policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We ask that you attend the office two days per week, one to stay connected with the team and the other one to establish relations.

If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.

Our offices are designed with an open-office concept where everything is light and transparency (we do not have opaque rooms). We have a variety of workspaces so that you don't have to be at the same table all day.
