Descripción de la oferta

Our Mobile Wireless Internet (MWI) research area is looking for a Senior 5G Researcher willing to get involved in a exciting Research and Innovation projects.

The researcher will be involved in the following project:

Sateliot: i2CAT Foundation and Sateliot joined forces in a pioneering project that adapts network core (respecting the 3GPP interfaces) to communicate all the elements involved in the process: nanosatellites, base stations, IoT devices, and operators.

Thanks to this novel software, the Sateliot nanosatellites will work as telecom towers from space, offering 5G IoT coverage to mobile operators. This will be directed via a roaming service that allows for global and massive IoT internet service, without discontinuity and amplifying the coverage of terrestrial networks.

As part of his regular work the researcher is expected to:

  • Represent i2CAT in the aforementioned project meetings
  • Define algorithms and protocols applied to wireless technologies
  • Generate patent ideas
  • Generate results and lead scientific publications
  • Make technical presentations
  • Work with network prototypes. Requires expertise on Linux networking stack and experience working with open source projects

The researcher will be part of the Mobile and Wireless Internet (MWI) group at i2CAT. More information can be found here: https://www.i2cat.net/research-topics/mobile-wireless-internet/
