Descripción de la oferta

i2cat Foundation is looking for an IoT Engineer to join our Mobile Wireless Internet team.

The successful candidate will join the MWI group to work on the design, implementation and development of IoT solutions and their evaluation in real environments. The selected person is expected to have a resolute attitude and ability to make decisions at the development and research level.

She/He will work on projects of the IoT group both at European and National level focused on improving mobile element positioning solutions.

In this sense, the work carried out will be applied to the following areas:

  • Location and positioning solutions for vehicles based on IoT technologies. Evaluation and implementation of systems based on the use of one or more technologies, such as UWB or inercial sensors, GPS-RTK or sensors installed on the track, that allow to improve the performance of conventional autonomous GPS systems and that can be used as assistance/support for the guidance of autonomous vehicles. This scenario represents a challenge since it requires high precision (centimeters) the two axes of the road and robust solutions that will be necessary from the hybridization of various technologies. We will also work on the integration of this type of solutions with vehicular communication equipment to develop advanced applications and services that improve the safety and circulation of vulnerable vehicles, such as bicycles or scooters, in the city.
  • Location and positioning solutions indoors. Work will be done on improving and providing new features to indoor-precision location systems that i2CAT has developed.
  • IoT communication technologies applied to mobility scenarios. IoT technologies that meet the communication requirements of the deployed location solutions will be investigated. Use cases and scenarios will be considered where commercial cell connectivity cannot be assumed and other alternatives are necessary
  • Implementation (software and hardware) of prototypes and demonstrators. These demonstrators will be developed and validated under realistic conditions applied to cases of location use
  • Collaboration with other research centres and entities. During the work, meetings will be held and different research groups and entities will collaborate for the development and integration of solutions
  • Preparation of documentation and deliverables of the project.  As a result of the work carried out, the drafting of the project documentation will be participated

The workplace requires proven experience in the design and development of firmware and software for IoT devices. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work autonomously on advanced efficient and optimized IoT solutions.
The workplace requires availability to be able to move a few weeks to carry out tests, validations or installations in the deployment scenarios of location solutions.
