Job description

i2CAT is seeking for a Python backend software developer to join the Software Engineering Group.

The SEG area aims to deliver quality software within the established deadlines and budgets, ensuring customer satisfaction. The software we deliver covers a wide spectrum: dashboards, websites, apps, integrations with innovative hardware components as well as with software components produced by the different lines of research, to mention a few examples. This software can turn out to be a demonstrator, a proof of concept, a minimum viable product or a final product, using the agile framework (Scrum or Kanban) for its execution. And we participate in both research and innovation projects.

Main responsibilities of the position will be:

  • Participating in software development tasks using Python as main programming language
  • Defining technical tasks and estimating them, based on functional requirements, refining them, if necessary
  • Collaborating defining software architecture, detecting flaws and risks

Where will you do it?

At i2CAT we already have an established ‘work-from-home’ policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We expect that you attend the office two days per week: one to stay connected with your team and another one to engage with other colleagues

If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well-connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.

Our offices are designed with an open-office concept where everything is light and transparency. We have a variety of workspaces so that you don't have to be at the same table all day.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Fluent in Python as main programming languages, minimum 3 years
  • Experience with Public-Key Infrastructure frameworks (certificate management, encryption)
  • Deep knowledge consuming and implementing REST APIs using Flask, FastAPI or similar libraries
  • Experience using SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar) and non-SQL (MongoDB or others) databases, including using ORMs (SQLAlchemy or others)
  • Experience with git and gitflow
  • Team worker
  • Spoken and written English

Desired Requirements: 

  • Experience with Java
  • Understanding of Docker tooling (including Docker Compose)
  • Experience designing/coding microservices (container-based)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions or similar)
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.
