Job description

i2CAT operations area is searching for a motivated individual that can provide support to the day to day operations of the research centre. The operations area is responsible for formalizing the business processes of the centre, and implementing and supervising the resulting workflows via a software tool based on the Jira issue tracking system. In particular, the intern will work with the Operations team in the following activities:

  • Support to knowledge management
  • Support to research data management
  • Support to project planning; uploading the project plan information to the software tool and configuring project specific dashboards to help research and innovation teams follow up the execution of their projects.
  • Monitoring and auditing the reporting of hours to the software tool, detecting potential errors and missing information.
  • Helping i2CAT teams to define different reports and dashboards that provide those teams with the information they need.
  • Support to document the different business processes and workflows using i2CAT's main documentation tool: Confluence.
  • Support i2CAT's research areas in topics related to research data management.
  • Identify implicit knowledge and unstructured information generated by the organization

Where will you do it?

At i2CAT we already have an established ‘work-from-home’ policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We expect that you attend the office two days per week: one to stay connected with your team and another one to engage with other colleagues

If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well-connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.

Our offices are designed with an open-office concept where everything is light and transparency. We have a variety of workspaces so that you don't have to be at the same table all day.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements: 

  • University degree related to knowledge, information and/or documentation management
  • Fluency in Catalan, Spanish and English
  • Fluency in the use of digital technologies
  • Positive attitude
  • Assertiveness
  • Good planning and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and execute a wide diversity tasks

Desired Requirements: 

  • Fluency in the use of Wikis and/or issue management systems
  • Experience in using the Atlassian software suite (Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience in automated report generation based on data captured in Jira issues
  • Ability to listen and understand requirements of other people
  • Problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Power BI
  • Knowledge of Data Management Plans (DMPs) - how to prepare them, what tools are available, how to keep them up to date
  • Knowledge of institutional research data management policies
