Job description

The i2CAT Foundation is looking for an IoT R&D Engineer to join our IoT Reserach Area.  The selected person will join the IoT group in order to work in the design, implementation and development of IoT solutions and in the evaluation in real environments.

It is expected that the contracted person has a resolute attitude and the ability to make decisions at the level of development and research.

The contracted person will work in projects of the IoT field, both at a European and national level, focused on the majority of solutions for the positioning of mobile elements. In this sense, the work will apply to the following areas:

  • Localization and positioning solutions in interiors and exteriors based on IoT technologies. Evaluation and implementation of systems based on the use of one or several technologies, such as UWB, inertial sensors or BLE, which allow them to increase their precision indoors and which is able to serve as assistance/support for the guidance of autonomous vehicles ( AGV's).
  • Assessment and implementation of positioning/tracing solutions based on the hybridization of technologies that facilitate the interaction between vulnerable users (for example, to detect or warn of collision risks). It will work hard and provide new functionalities to solutions that are already developed by i2CAT.
  • Implementation (software and hardware) of prototypes and demonstrators. These demonstrators will be developed and validated under realistic conditions applied to localization cases.
  • Optimization of IoT communications in heterogeneous scenarios, considering satellite and terrestrial networks. Analysis of the communication protocols, architectures and additional mechanisms for each scenario and proposal of thousands or recommendations to maximize the efficiency, scalability and applicability of the solutions.
  • Collaboration with other research centers and entities. In the course of the week, meetings will be held and it will collaborate with different research groups and entities for the development and integration of solutions.
Preparation of documentation and project deliverables. As a result of the work carried out, the selected candidate will participate in the drafting of the documentation of the project.

The job title requires proficiency and demonstrated experience in the design and development of firmware and software for IoT devices. It is hoped that the contracted person will continue to be able to work autonomously in advanced efficient and optimized IoT solutions.
