Job description

The i2CAT Foundation is looking for a Research Line MAnager on Quantum Communications Technologies applied to satellite and networks systems (QoSAT, quantum on Satellites).

The selected candidate should have proven skills and experience in research and development tasks for telecommunications and quantum technologies in order to join the research team in Space Communications (SC, Space Communications).

The line of research in quantum technologies for satellite communications aims to contribute to the integration of quantum technologies associated with communications with satellite systems and networks. As an example of applications we have quantum key distribution (QKD) or quantum networks (QN) based on entanglement to enable applications such as distributed quantum computing and sensing. All together with the common horizon of contributing to the development of what we call the Quantum Internet.

The selected person is expected to lead the definition and implementation of strategies and research initiatives in this line and must also have sufficient capabilities to carry out part of the technical tasks of the different projects to lead. The research line contemplates actions and projects related to security mechanisms resistant to the quantum threat, such as QKD, the integration of these QKD mechanisms in satellite network environments with the aim of establishing quantum communications in long distance, and research into architectures and protocols capable of controlling, managing and exploiting the capabilities of quantum networks.

Additionally, he will be in charge of promoting the activities of the research line through the establishment of development collaborations with other public and private entities, as well as the definition of the research roadmap for this line. Finally, the candidate will publish the research achievements in scientific journals and conferences.

Who we are:
