Job description

The i2CAT Foundation Cybersecurity Area is looking for a Cybersecurity expert willing to join the i2CAT Cybersecurity Research and Innovation Area.

The successful candidate will participate in national and international innovation projects in the field of cybersecurity, working directly with relevant advanced technologies and collaborating closely with leading local and international cybersecurity organizations.

Among their tasks, the candidates will have to:

  • Define technological requirements of the projects to be developed.
  • Participate in technological developments in this area.
  • Build proofs of concept based on disruptive ideas and technologies
  • Identify improvements in the tools, technologies and processes in SOC's environments.
  • Participate in the monitoring of trends and new technologies, events, conferences and support to innovative companies and startups.
  • Participate in the drafting of technical documentation associated with the projects.

The candidate will join a mixed team of technologists and researchers whose mission is to develop and implement the cybersecurity, innovation and research roadmap of i2CAT and the projects in which it participates.

More than 15 years of international research define our expertise in the fields of 5G, IoT,  VR,  and  Immersive  Technologies,  Cybersecurity,  Blockchain,  AI,  and  Digital  Social Innovation. Where will you do it?

At i2CAT we already have an established telework policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We ask that you attend the office two days per week, one to stay connected with the team and the other one to establish relations.

If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.

Our offices are designed with an open-office concept where everything is light and transparency (we do not have opaque rooms). We have a variety of workspaces so that you don't have to be at the same table all day.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • In Telecommunication / Informatics (or others like Maths, Physics, etc.)
  • At least 3 years experience in the field of cybersecurity
  • Experience in the design or analysis of system vulnerabilities, solutions and architectures in the framework of cybersecurity.
  • Experience in technologies, tools and services deployed in a SOC/CSIRT
  • Proven knowledge of security technologies: Intrusion detection, fortification of OS and Apps (hardening) and handling event security (Syslog, Netflow…)
  • Interest and basic knowledge of different technological fields (IoT, Networks, Blockchain, ML, Big Data, TCPIP, SDN…)
  • Advanced GNU/Linux System administration
  • Proactive, methodic, curious person.
  • Spanish native
  • English advanced

Desired Requirements:

  • MsC or PhD in Cybersecurity
  • CISSP/CCSK Certification
  • Secure development: SecDevOps
  • Proven knowledge and experience in operational intelligence platforms (ie. Elastic or Splunk)
  • Knowledge improving cybersecurity tools and procedures
  • Experience in project management (Certifications will be valued)
  • Communication skills
