Job description

Our Distributed Artificial Intelligence research area is looking for an AI research engineer in Cybersecurity who is willing to get involved in exciting Research and Innovation projects in the framework of H2020 European programme and national projects.

 

The suitable candidate will work closely with our experts in cybersecurity and in connected vehicles to deploy the AI potential in theses fields. She/He will work on the following projects:

  • PALANTIR is an H2020 European project that seeks to deliver Security as a Service to the small and medium enterprises.
  • TDA (Advance Digital Technologies) Cybersecurity Challenge that aims to predict user exposure to cyber threats.
  • R&D projects in the framework of the Catalan AI strategy 

The successful candidate will develop the following tasks:

  • Develop scalable data ingestion and filtering pipelines able to collect data from heterogeneous sources, including elements of the physical infrastructure (e.g. routers, switches, compute clusters), application level and system security events as well as virtualised security services running on top of them
  • Develop, adapt and apply new deep learning techniques for Anomaly Detection in the traffic of the network and systems.
  • Develop, adapt and apply new deep learning techniques for Risk Level Detection in Operational Intelligence management systems.
  • Travel and participate in the project meeting with the European partners few times a year
  • Follow up with the general projects status and deliver the required reports.

Where will you do it?

At i2CAT we already have an established telework policy for some time. You can work from home or from the office, whichever suits you best. We ask that you attend the office two days per week, one to stay connected with the team and the other one to establish relations.

If you decide to come to the office, we are located in Zona Universitària, next to the Campus Nord of the UPC, within a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment. It is a very well connected area (metro, tram, bus) with bars and restaurants around.

Our offices are designed with an open-office concept where everything is light and transparency (we do not have opaque rooms). We have a variety of workspaces so that you don't have to be at the same table all day.

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • BsC or MsC related to AI and/or related topic
  • Excellent programming and algorithmic skills.
  • Proven experience with at least one programming Language: Python (preferable), R, Matlab or C++.
  • Knowledge of machine learning tools: Sklearn, Tensorflow, OpenCV, etc.
  • Experience in AI research and innovation projects
  • Experience in European Research Projects (H2020 / Horizon Europe)
  • Excellent English level, both written and oral.
  • Pro-active and independent individual
  • Good communication skills.
  • Creativity and curiosity.

 

Nice to have:

  • PhD or interest in doing a PhD related to AI and/or related topic
  • Experience in AI research and innovation projects applied to cybersecurity
  • Proven knowledge of unsupervised learning
  • Proven knowledge of adversarial machine learning
  • Knowledge of Big Data tools such us: Hadoop, Spark and MongoDB
  • Show developments done by your own initiative (i.e. Github account with public projects, Kaggle competitions).
  • Published research in high impact journals
  • Good Spanish and/or Catalan
  • Knowledge of JIRA / Confluence
