Job description

I2CAT is looking for a Director to lead our European Comission R&I team to lead our European Comission R&I team in order to support the organization in the definition and implementation of the R&I strategy within the European Research ecosystem and the new European Research programme.

 

The main responsibilities of the successful candidate are:

  • Reporting to the CTIO and in close collaboration with our research areas, define i2CAT’s R&I approach and strategy, in order to be aligned with the vision and priorities set up by the European Commission.
  • Lead the EC R&I team
  • Define a strategically roadmaps towards positioning I2CAT in different areas within EC R&D frameworks.
  • Lead networking tasks that facilitate the identification of potential partners and the creation of Research Consortiums on the European level.
  • Create, maintain and develop partnerships with universities, research institutions, companies and public administrations
  • Contribute to make i2CAT become a more strategic research partner on the European level, creating alliances with European research key players.
  • Identify funding opportunities on verticals where ICT and i2CAT’s know-how can be applied.
  • Participate in the definition and drafting of research proposals together with our Research Areas.

This position will report directly to our CTIO and will require close collaboration with all i2CAT’s Research Directors, being part of i2CAT’s Research Committee.

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • PhD. in Engineering field (Telco, Computer Science, Electronic, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
  • +5 years of experience working in the European Research ecosystem (i.e. EU Programme Manager, EU Committee Member, etc.)
  • Experience in research ecosystems
  • Extensive European contact network.
  • Excellent English level is a must.
  • Excellent relational skills
  • Demonstrable experience in policy making with involvement in the public sector
  • Demonstrable experience in different ICT fields
  • Availability to travel
  • Demonstrable capability to lead people from different fields
  • Open minded thinking
  • Demonstrable experience on innovation activities.

Desired requirements:

  • Knowledge in one or several of these areas (5G, IoT, V2X, VR/AR, AI, etc.)
  • Previous experience in similar positions.
  • Demonstrable success ratio at the EC R&D level
