Job description

The i2CAT Foundation is looking for an AI engineer who is willing to get involved in exciting Research and Innovation projects in the framework of the Horizon Europe, and the Catalan and Spanish research programs. 

The suitable candidate will join the research area of Distributed Artificial Intelligence. This area holds expertise in Computer Vision, ML, DL and optimization problems; and applies this knowledge to the verticals of ambient intelligence, mobility, telecommunications, manufacturing, energy, first responders, sustainability and cybersecurity.

Our team is an active player in the European research ecosystem and participates as partners or subcontractors in other R&D projects. Our area also offers professional services to relevant industry and SMEs.

The selected candidate that will join i2CAT will start working in the following projects side by side with our Catalan and European partners:

  • CIDAI – Projectes d’alt Impacte ‘Traffic Accident Risk Assessment Analytics’ is a project that aims to demonstrate the feasibility of anticipated traffic risk identification and to identify risk factors using Video Analytics, Big Data and cloud computing. This project starts in March, there will be several partners working on it, and it will be coordinated by i2CAT.
  • UNBLUR: AI for Emergency Services, is an R&D project for a startup that has been awarded with an EIC accelerator grant. The role of i2CAT in this project is to provide new AI functionalities to the Unblur incident command software.

She/He will develop the following tasks in the projects above listed, and in new projects that will arise.

  • Participate in technological developments of R&D solutions.
  • Analyze and discuss technical requirements with the clients and end users
  • Plan the activities that will be performed during the projects, define the resources needed, and supervise the technical part of the execution.
  • Represent i2CAT at EU and national project meetings.
  • Lead tasks and Work Packages in projects with multiple partners
  • Coordinate projects with multiple partners.
  • Participate in the writing and editing of the documents and deliverables associated with the projects
  • Prepare project proposals for EU and national calls.

Requirements

Minimum requeriments:

  • MsC related to Artificial Intelligence or equivalent experience
  • More than 5 years of proven experience in R&D projects
  • Deep knowledge of AI, Data Analytics and Mathematical Modelling techniques.
  • Knowledge of data engineering, data connectors and databases.
  • Analytical mind-set able to propose solutions to new and known problems and carry on research proactively
  • Proven experience with at least two of the following programming Languages: Python, Matlab, Java and C++.
  • Expertise in projects and tasks management with Agile tools (ex: Jira Altassian)
  • Excellent English level, both written and oral.
  • Pro-active individual who can work with loosely defined goals.
  • Good communication skills.

Desired requeriments:

  • PhD related to Artificial Intelligence or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a team leadership role in R&D projects.
  • Good publication record.
  • Experience with scientific proposal writing (e.g., H2020 proposals).
  • Professional level for Spanish and Catalan
