Descripción de la oferta

i2CAT is opening a position for a junior R&D engineer to work in the Mobile and Wireless Internet (MWI) group. MWI develops software technologies to manage and control 5G cellular and WiFi infrastructure.

The selected candidate will be working in the TDA5G project funded by the Catalan government, which has two main goals: First, validate wireless giagabit technologies that can be used to support the deployment of 5G networks in areas where fiber is not available. Second, define and validate a public-private 5G deployment model that enables operators to foster the deployment of 5G networks in rural areas. The two previous objectives will be validated in a real 5G network deployment in Mora d'Ebre, where Open RAN technologies will be favored.

The MWI group has developed an asset called RAN controller that is used to manage base stations and wifi access points from different vendors. The main task of the selected candidate in the TDA5G project will be to extend the current RAN controller solution to include support for the selected wireless gigabit and open RAN vendors. To execute this task the selected candidate will be supported by a senior project manager and by the MWI core development team who has developed the RAN controller solution.
