Job description

 

Institution:

ALBA is the Spanish synchrotron radiation facility operated by the Consortium CELLS, which is
equally funded by the Spanish Government (Ministerio de Economía y Competividad) and the Catalan
Government (Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d'Economia i Coneixement). The produced
synchrotron light is of outstanding quality to study life and materials up to nanoscale by using
unique techniques. ALBA offers access services to those techniques to academic and industrial users.

Function:

The position offers a unique opportunity to develop the R&D Projects support within the Industrial
Liaison and Project Office of ALBA, which play a key role in the services to be provided to the
society by our large scientific and technological facility, while working on a highly collaborative,
multicultural, international and stimulating work environment.

We seek a highly motivated individual to deal with national and international R&D project
implementation and management activities in the areas of synchrotron techniques and technologies
available at ALBA. Typically the international projects are European (i.e. H2020), in collaboration
with other synchrotrons and devoted to foster synchrotron user transnational access, industry
access, to provide industry services, to assess socio-economic impact, to provide training, etc.
Performing the tasks foreseen in the work packages of those projects in close collaboration with
other ALBA groups and with external organizations, writing and reviewing project proposals,
deliverables and reports in time, supporting the project justifications and audits are activities to
carry out. In general, to support ALBA in any issue related to the R&D and Innovation project
implementation and management activities is expected from this position. To keep and expand that
project portfolio, a customer service and proactive attitude is crucial.

Requirements

 

Successful candidate will:
- Have self-motivation and ability to work independently, as well as a part of multi-
disciplinary team.
- Have the flexibility to work in a wide variety of activities covering all the range of
activities developed in the R&D projects where ALBA is participating in.
- Have a proven ability to demonstrate initiative, be pro-active and looking for continuous
improvement.
- Have to be confident in managing complex workload to meet deadlines.
- Have a proven capability to communicate efficiently, know how to analyse and present complex
information both orally and in writing.

Qualification and Experience: Essential
- University degree in engineering, physics, chemistry or closely related discipline and/or
proven track in project management.
- An understanding of R&D and Industry project life cycles, project planning and reporting
requirements.
- Experience in international and national R&D projects.
- Knowledge of R&D project proposals and deliverables preparation.
- Good interpersonal, oral/written English communication skills.

Qualification and Experience: Assets
- Knowledge of the synchrotron radiation techniques.
- Knowledge of the applications of the synchrotron radiation techniques.
