The consortium for Construction, Equipment and Exploitation of the Synchrotron Light Laboratory
(CELLS) is jointly funded by the Spanish Government through its Ministerio de Educación y
Ciencia (Ministry of Education and Science) and the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Autonomous
Government) through its Departament d’Universitats, Recerca i Societat de la Informació
(Department of Universities, Research and Information Society).
The accelerator was commissioned in 2011 and the Beamlines started official operations in May
2012. The MIS (Management Information Systems) Section gives support to the company in terms of
technology and data for decision making by evaluating, designing, implementing and managing systems
for all divisions of CELLS, including the information management of non-scientific data for the
users who perform their experiments at CELLS (User Office).

The Management Information Systems section consists of 7 staff members. The section is part of the
Computing and Controls Division with 50 staff members.
Function:
- Support, development and migration of the User Office Platform.
- Development and integration of the Scientific Data Catalogue.
- Development and integration of the web data acquisition monitor system.
- Development and integration of the new Pools and Stock management.
- Development and integration of the new Finances and HR information management system.
- Knowledge Management System.
- Electronic Administration Project development.
- Technological migration of the current Information Management Systems.
- Software development projects for the Synchrotron (User Office, Virtual Catalog,...)
Qualifications:
- 4 years university degree in Computer Science Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience in web development (Python, J2EE and JavaScript), Databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL…)
and different frameworks (Django, Spring, AngularJS, JQuery…) will be considered an asset.
- Experience in Apache, Glassfish, Plone web/application server will be valued.
- Experience in Agile (Scrum or Kanban) and DevOps (CI and CD) principles and technologies
(e.g. Docker) will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge Service (ITIL) and Project Management (PRINCE2) will be considered asset.
- Good team player.
- Experience in JIRA for Service and Project Management.
- The working language at ALBA is English. A good level of English both written and spoken is required.
