INSTITUTION
ALBA is the Spanish 3-GeV synchrotron radiation facility operated by the Consortium CELLS,
which is equally funded by the Spanish Government (Ministerio de Economía y Competividad) and
the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d'Economia i Coneixement).
FUNCTION
The position offers a unique opportunity to develop the Project and Industry R&D Support and
Technology Transfer activities of ALBA, which play a key role in the services to be provided to
the society by our large scientific and technological facility, while working on a highly
collaborative, multicultural, international and stimulating work environment.
We seek a highly motivated individual to deal with international and national R&D project
management activities and to look for new links with the industry to foster their R&D
activities through the advanced synchrotron techniques and technologies available at ALBA.
Keeping and expanding the costumer portfolio, developing collaborations agreements, being the
interface between ALBA and industry scientists, technologists or representatives are activities
to be carried out. In general, to support ALBA in any issue related to the industry and project
management is expected from this position. A customer service attitude is crucial.
Successful candidate will:
- Increase knowledge on the ALBA synchrotron techniques and beamlines and contribute to growth
and develop their industrial applications.
- Contribute and manage international and national R&D projects where ALBA is participating in.
- Contact and visit industries to offer help on solving diverse and challenging industrial R&D
problems.
- Gain invaluable experience on synchrotron light R&D project management and cutting-edge
research industry applications and needs.
Qualification and Experience: Essential
- University degree in physics, material science, chemistry, engineering or closely related
discipline.
- A Ph.D. degree in those disciplines is a plus.
- Experience in international and national R&D project management.
- Experience on synchrotron light techniques
- Self-motivation, flexibility and ability to work independently, as well as a part of
multi-disciplinary team.
- Proven capability to communicate efficiently the applications of the Synchrotron techniques
to the industries.
- Prone to promote the use of the synchrotron techniques in the industry and the technology
transfer activities.
- Drive to work in a business environment and to provide a good customer service.
- Good interpersonal, oral/written English communication skills.
Qualification and Experience: Desirable
- Knowledge of the synchrotron radiation techniques (X-ray spectroscopy, diffraction,
photoemission, fluorescence…).
- Knowledge of R&D project proposals and deliverables preparation.
- Knowledge of the industry applications of the synchrotron radiation techniques.
