Job description

The i2CAT Foundation is looking for a Senior AI Researcher who is willing to lead i2CATs Artificial Intelligence strategy and the AI research area. This area holds expertise in Computer Vision, ML, DL, RL and optimization problems; and applies this knowledge to the verticals of ambient intelligence, mobility, telecommunications, manufacturing, energy, emergencies, government, sustainability and cybersecurity.

 

The Research Area is currently involved in different H2020 projects funded by the European Commission about Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. In addition the department collaborates in different industrial R&D projects.

 

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Lead developments and research activities in different EU projects.
  • Lead internal developments concerning AI.
  • Participate in the writing and presentation of deliverables and papers as well as dissemination activities of the projects.
  • Supervise and support other team members in the preparation of periodic reports of the projects, deliverables and all related documentation related to the reporting phases of the projects.
  • Manage the team of the AI research area
  • Supervise master and PhD students
  • Take responsibility in leading work packages and tasks with other partners around Europe.
  • Participate and contribute in the writing of new competitive proposals in the European, Spanish and Catalan
  • Work on the AI internal strategy definition
  • Contribute to the newly created AI Catalan Community.
  • Participate and contribute in the writing of project proposals with industrial partners.

Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in IA (minimum 5 years)
  • PhD studies
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of ML algorithms (SVM, I-Forest, Neural Networks, etc.)
  • Proven experience with at least one programming language: Python and/or Scala
  • Proven experience with at least one data processing library (e.g. PANDAS) and one ML library (e.g. SciKit-Learn)
  • Excellent programming, algorithmic and mathematical modelling skills
  • Proven experience in requirements engineering and requirements elicitation with customers
  • Proven experience with databases, SQL, NO-SQL and Distributed File Systems.
  • Excellent English level, both written and oral.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Productivity and motivation.
  • Creativity and curiosity.
  • Project-oriented.

Desired requirements:

  • Proven experience with one DL library (e.g. Pytorch, Theano, Tensorflow)
  • Proven experience working with GPUs in Deep Learning
  • Proven experience in Computer Vision
  • Proven experience leading Tasks and WP in H2020 projects
  • Proven experience as a principal investigator in research projects
  • Knowledge domain in one or several sectors: cybersecurity, immersive technologies, telecommunications, industry, mobility, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with Matlab on AI
  • Successful track of papers in conferences and journals
  • Knowledge and experience with SPARK
  • Experience in the preparation of successful research proposals (H2020, Cervera, Innotec, Neotec, Tecniospring, etc)
  • Experience in the preparation of industrial R&D proposals
  • Professional level for Spanish and Catalan
