What we’re looking for

We are looking for a lecturer for the area of Materials Science – Biomaterials with a PhD in engineering, mainly in the following fields but not limited to: materials science, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering, who will be required to teach the following areas of knowledge: biomedical systems prototyping, mechanics and biomechanics, graphic expression techniques, materials engineering, advanced materials, forming technology.

Key responsibilities

• To participate in departmental research projects.
• To provide high quality bachelor’s degree-level teaching in your specialist subjects.
• To lead the management and/or coordination of programmes and perform any other academic tasks assigned to you by the Department.

Selection process

In May 2018, EURAXESS awarded the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya with a Human Resources Excellence in Research Award, which ensures that candidates are selected purely on the basis of excellence criteria. The UIC Barcelona selection process involves:

• An independent board of experts that assesses all applications and decides who will move on to the next stage. All members of this board are from outside UIC Barcelona.
• A public oral defence by finalist applicants: a presentation about their career (both academic and teaching) and their research projects. Following the presentation, the examination panel will ask a series of questions to conclude the defence. The defence should last a total of 60 minutes.

We offer

• A full-time contract in a dynamic and international scientific environment in the Department of Basic Sciences (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) at UIC Barcelona (Health Sciences Campus, Sant Cugat del Vallès)
• A tenure-track position (4 years) with a mid-term evaluation (depending on the candidate’s profile, the position could quickly become permanent).
• A competitive salary based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience
• Lab bench in a wet lab and use of the Department’s scientific equipment
• Start date: September 2021 (date is negotiable)
