Job description

This is for a candidate who collaborates in the development of research projects, technological development, and technical assistance. Based on his/her experience and qualifications, he/she can assume the planning and execution of projects and services. He/she can collaborate in the definition of action strategies in his/her area of specialisation and in the search for new projects.

Requirements

General requirements:

 

Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or Industrial Engineering, Degree in Mathematics or Physics with knowledge of data processing and storage, computer developments, and information and communication technologies. Or degrees and engineering specialities of a similar nature.

Specific requirements

  • Programming (Python, C++, Shell script, JAVA, Matlab, Fortran, etc. will be appreciated)
  • Linux environment
  • Data processing, quality controls
  • Software development, APIs, and information technology tools
  • Data storage, advanced databases
  • Administration of THREDDS data servers, OPeNDAP access.
  • Cloud computing
  • Development, management and integration of measurement and communication systems
  • Project management (preparation of offers, task planning, relations with suppliers, and drafting technical reports)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

 The following will be positively considered:                  

  • Processing, storage, and communication of ocean-meteorological observation data.
  • Handling and integration of data from oceanic and meteorological observation platforms, high frequency radars, tide gauges, coastal videometry.
  • Handling and integration of image equipment, including experience in the application of image processing and analysis algorithms.
  • Management and handling of databases, documentary information, procedures, technical manuals, etc.
  • Management of the Copernicus Data and Information Access Services
  • Artificial intelligence (machine learning, deep learning, neuronal and Bayesian networks)
  • Scientific publication
