Computer Vision and AI research engineer

The Distributed Artificial Intelligence area of i2CAT Foundation is looking for an AI engineer in Computer vision who is willing to get involved in exciting Research and Innovation projects in the framework of the ‘Tecnologies Emergents’ Catalan program.

The suitable candidate will work closely with our experts in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Digital Innovation and Software Development to deploy the potential of the Machine Learning and Computer Vision in the field of recycling and circular economy.

She/He will start working in the following project:

• Project of “Techonologies Digitals Avançades” (TDA), Circularitat i Traçabilitat dels Residus d'Aparells Elèctrics i Electrònics (RAEE), that aims to demonstrate the viability of a system that allows tracing and locating the EEE (electrical and electronic equipment) marketed in Catalonia from the moment of its manufacture. This traceability wants to include information on the components that aredefined as strategic and that contain certain EEE.

 The successful candidate will work in the following tasks:

• Develop a computer vision algorithm capable of distinguish different types and components of the electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)
• Create a dataset by semi-manual tagging and by data augmentation of images of EEE
• Fusion data from physical and chemical sensors with EEE images to create a training dataset
• Train a new deep learning neural network architecture that combines data from sensors and images to detect EEE components.
• Work together with the colleagues of the Artificial Intelligent area, other research areas, and the collaborating partners to deliver a proof of concept and documentation of the product that meet the desired standards.
