Junior 5G Researcher/Engineer

Our Mobile Wireless Internet (MWI) research area is looking for a Junior 5G Researcher/Engineer willing to get involved in the development a RAN Controller Platform.

The MWI team has developed a RAN controller platform that has been tested in different EU Research projects like 5G-XHAUL (https://www.5g-xhaul-project.eu/), 5GPICTURE (https://www.5g-picture-project.eu/) and 5GCITY (https://www.5gcity.eu/) and which is able to:

• Instantiate wireless network services (custom SSID or PLMNID) for Wi-Fi and LTE devices
• Allocate forwarding paths in a wireless backhaul topology for a given wireless service
• Control the amount of wireless resources allocated to each wireless service

As part of his regular work the researcher/engineer is expected to:

• Develop solutions and algorithms proposed by the MWI team on the RAN controller platform
• Develop SDN device agents running on embedded Linux platforms
• Support demonstrations involving the RAN controller
• Propose new architectures, protocols or algorithms that can address the problems addressed by the team
• Interact with the other team R&D engineers that develop the RAN Controller platform
