Job description

Our Mobile Wireless Internet (MWI) research area is looking for a Senior 5G Researcher willing to get involved in two exciting Research and Innovation projects.

The successful candidate will be involved in two projects:

  • The H2020 5G project 5GZORRO (https://www.5gzorro.eu/), developing solutions to negotiate the allocation of spectrum resources using distributed ledger technologies (DLT). The developed solutions will leverage the existing 5G technologies developed by the MWI group that allow to control resource allocation in WiFi and LTE devices.
  • OPENVERSO (OPEN, VIRTUALIZED TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATORS FOR SMART NETWORKS) is a project funded by the Spanish government focusing on  beyond 5G networks. The researcher will contribute to this project working on developments based on OpenAirInterface (https://www.openairinterface.org/) or srsLTE (https://github.com/srsLTE/srsLTE), and integrating them with an existing SDN management framework for wireless networks. The researcher will develop RRM algorithms managing 5G and WiFi networks using said framework.

As part of his regular work the researcher is expected to:

  • Represent i2CAT at EU and national project meetings.
  • Define algorithms and protocols applied to wireless technologies.
  • Generate patent ideas.
  • Generate results and lead scientific publications.
  • Make technical presentations.
  • Work with network prototypes. Requires expertise on Linux networking stack.

The researcher will be part of the Mobile and Wireless Internet (MWI) group at i2CAT. More information can be found here: https://www.i2cat.net/research-topics/mobile-wireless-internet/
