What we are looking for

A candidate who is strongly committed to undertaking projects in the area of Public Health and teaching, as part of a team of teachers and researchers in the Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.  

The candidate will participate in projects being undertaken by emerging research groups in Health Education and the Evaluation of Determining Factors in Health and Healthcare Policies. Projects in these areas will focus on evaluative research of the educational methodologies of healthcare professionals and specific populations. The aim of this is to improve training for healthcare professionals and knowledge about health in the community and reduce the impact of noncommunicable diseases on the population.

The main lines of research you will participate in are the following:

  1. Research to improve evaluation processes of the clinical, research and relational competences of students and healthcare professionals.
  2. Evaluation of the impact of programmes for the promotion and education of health on health in the case of complex patients.
  3. The use of results as perceived by patients and Quality of Life as related to Health using predictive and diagnostic models.

Key duties

  • Teaching in the area of area of Public Health and Epidemiology.
  • Leading research projects as part of our line of research on evaluative research into training processes in Medical and Health Education.
  • Participation in research projects on health and healthcare promotion.

We offer

  • A temporary three-year contract with a half-way assessment (depending on the candidate’s profile, the position could become permanent in the third year).
  • The position will be located at UIC Barcelona, ​​in the Department of Medicine.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Medicine or Psychology (with a specialisation in Epidemiology).

Assessment criteria

  • Solid experience of teaching on degree programmes (it will be highly valued if the candidate has teaching experience at master’s or postgraduate level).
  • Evidence of having received positive evaluations from students.
  • Advanced knowledge of innovative teaching methodologies.
  • An interest in working on common teaching and research projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of management, multidisciplinary work and teamwork.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of English.
  • In the case of non-Spanish candidates, criteria equivalent to accreditation as a contracted doctor and/or six-year research period and/or the possibility of acquiring it in the two-three first years of your university contract.
  • A long-term commitment to the university.
