What we are looking for

We are looking for a Research Lecturer to undertake their own research in the Economy of Culture as part of our Master’s Degree in Arts and Cultural Management in the Faculty of Humanities. The candidate awarded the position could become the director of the Master’s degree programme taught in English in the mid-term.

The Lecturer will also coordinate the teaching activities in their field of expertise in that degree programme in areas like: the creation of cultural companies, Leadership, Funding for Culture, etc… In fact, the successful candidate is expected to establish their own research programme and effectively contribute to graduate student education. 

Key duties

  • Teaching classes related to Financing, Creation of Cultural Companies, and Leadership.
  • Obtaining competitive grants
  • Publishing in high impact journals.
  • Working as part of a team to prepare and present scientific projects.

Conditions

  • This is a tenure-track (3-year) position with a mid-term evaluation (depending on the candidate’s profile the position could quickly become a permanent position).
  • The position will be located at UIC Barcelona within the Faculty of Humanities.

Requirements

The candidate must have:

  • PhD in Cultural Management or Business
  • A minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral experience at the university.

Assessment criteria

The following characteristics from the candidate’s CV will be assessed:

  • Essential knowledge and professional experience  
    • An independent research background and experience of leading a research group involved in competitive projects. Applicants must be able to make valuable contributions in terms of scientific productivity. In any case they are still able to hold their own grants as a Research Group Leader and/or author papers as a first author.
    • A proven record of teaching experience would be valued.
  • Competences
    • Good communication and presentation skills.
    • Effective written and oral communication skills in both English and either Spanish or Catalan.
    • The ability to work both independently and within a team.
    • Management and leadership skills.
